European Commission Encourage Blockchain Devs to Come-up with Defense-Focused Solutions
The European Commission (EC) is providing offers to Blockchain coders and other development experts to deduce solution that embraces technology from defense to civil applications.
The EC on March the 24th posted a European defense Industrial Development Program encouraging small-to-medium enterprises (SMEs) to endorse rapid, cost-powerful solutions - targeted on new methods and recommendations for technology or ideas that have previously not been implemented to the defense sector.
Combinations of blockchain with “virtual twins” for logistics purposes
As regards blockchain, the EC gives an outline to guide packages to the program, which stand to benefit from its 2019-20 254-million-euro budget for offers, if successful. Specifically, the EC seeks proposals that are:
“Based on real-time cloud and on-premise digital twins benefiting from blockchain technologies’ robustness, able to channel all currently optimized logistics needs, such as chain of spare parts, maintenance, energy consumables.”
A virtual twin is the virtual illustration or mirror of any physical entity, asset or process - whether or not a machine, object, piece of infrastructure or human being. The field of blockchain can make stronger the integrity of digital twins by, for example, allowing for the use of tamper-evidence cryptographic tags that validate the provenance, country, and possession of products or objects.
As stated in a Deloitte 2018 report, combining virtual twins with blockchain can provide particular benefits for sectors together with the internet of things, which may be used, amongst different applications, for predictive preservation in production environments.
Deloitte outlines that blockchain can be useful to offer secure identification management, transparent ownership models and efficient statistics analytics, all of which can decorate the power and resilience of diverse systems.

Submissions to this system are open from April 15, with a provisional cut-off date of Dec. 1, 2020, relying on the evolution of the COVID-19 pandemic.
